Ginger Zingara has been a member of the Troy State University music faculty since 2001, where she teaches Music Theory I, II, Secondary Methods and Materials, supervises interns, and conducts the Troy Symphony Orchestra, a collegiate/community ensemble. Previously, she taught 15 years at the middle and high school level in Georgia.

Mrs. Zingara received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors from Troy State University and was selected as their “The Most Outstanding Music Graduate”in 1985. She began her career at Washington-Wilkes Middle and High School, and then onto metro Atlanta schools: Miller Grove Junior High, Redan High, Pinckneyville Middle and Norcross High Schools. Under her baton, her students performed at the 1995 Southeastern United States Band Clinic, were often invited to perform at Universal Studios’ “Lights, Camera, Music!” program, and received the Sudler Flag of Honor from the John Philip Sousa Foundation for outstanding achievement in music education. She continued at Oconee County High School, outside of Athens, Georgia, where in her three-year tenure, her symphonic band and percussion ensemble won “Best in Class” at the North American Music Festival in New York City, received consistent superior ratings in marching competitions and was one of only 16 bands from the United States selected to perform at the Lord Mayor’s Millennium Parade in London, England.

She is often requested as a clinician, conductor and adjudicator throughout the United States, as well as, in France and England. Her personal honors include: Who's Who in Education, Who’s Who in North America, Outstanding Young Women in America, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Society, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Troy State University Most Outstanding Music Graduate, 3-time recipient of the Rosie Yoder Music Scholarship, Tau Beta Sigma Honorary Band Fraternity - Life Member. Her professional affiliations include: Music Educators National Conference, National Band Association, American String Teacher Association, Alabama Music Educators Association, Alabama Bandmasters Association, and Women Band Directors International. She is also a certified grant writer and has written on behalf of university and community music groups throughout the south Alabama area.

She is the conductor of the Music South Symphony Orchestra and the Dothan Chamber Orchestra, professional orchestras, as well as two area community orchestras: Tri-State Community Orchestra based in Dothan, Alabama and Troy Symphony Orchestra in Troy, Alabama. She serves on the Board of Directors of Music South, a non-profit organization that supports professional music performance and music education in the Southeastern Alabama area, as well as sitting on the Board for the newly formed Wiregrass Youth Symphony Orchestra. She is on the Music Educators Journal book review panel for the Music Educators National Conference and the Editorial Board for Women Band Directors International. She and her husband, Dr. James Zingara, host a weekly radio show entitled “BandWorld” on the WTSU/WRWA/WTJB public radio network.
