School of Music Facilities

The John M. Long School of Music is housed in Smith Hall and Long Hall on the Troy University campus.  Smith Hall includes classrooms, practice rooms (including rooms for piano and percussion), technology and keyboard labs, recording studios, a choral rehearsal room and choral music library, several music faculty offices, Crosby Theater (the main concert hall), and the School of Music Office (114).  University Bands, including the Band Office and main band rehearsal room, band music library, and band storage areas, is located in Long Hall (next to Smith Hall) along with several music faculty offices.

HAL (Hawkins, Adams, Long) Hall is located next to Long Hall.  The National Band Association’s National Band Directors Hall of Fame and the Alabama Band Directors Hall of Fame are both located in Hal Hall.   Hal Hall also includes a small recital hall that is used for School of Music recitals.  A more intimate recital space is located in Sorrell Chapel on the campus.
