Dr. Jason Sulliman is Assistant Professor of Trombone at the John M. Long School of Music at Troy University. He teaches applied trombone, class brass, and coaches various chamber brass ensembles. Dr. Sulliman earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music-Trombone Performance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Master’s Degrees in both Performance and Conducting from the University of New Mexico, and a Doctorate in Brass Pedagogy from Indiana University.

Dr. Sulliman is currently finishing a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology- Motor Learning/Motor Control from Indiana University. Dr. Sulliman is an active performer in several area orchestras including the Alabama Symphony, the Pensacola Symphony, and the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. Previous to Troy University, Dr. Sulliman taught applied low brass and music theory at the University of North Alabama and played principal trombone for the Shoals Symphony Orchestra at UNA. Jason has also taught applied brass and jazz band at Vincennes University. While a freelancer in the Indianapolis area, Dr. Sulliman played with several orchestras there including the Indianapolis Symphony, Carmel Symphony, and Terre Haute Symphony. Dr. Sulliman was the music manager and conductor for the Broadway show “Blast!” for several international tours and currently serves as the trombone tutor for the North American Brass Band Summer School as part of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tatoo in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

An active clinician, Dr. Sulliman is in constant demand as a presenter and visiting artist and has given presentations at dozens of state and regional NAfME and CMS conferences as well as many universities throughout the United States. He specializes in 21st-century pedagogy and performing arts wellness. Dr. Sulliman maintains a healthy online studio through his website.
